EPSI Worx is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join our client's team as a Mobile Cyber Security Engineer in Chillicothe, OH.

Job Description:

Support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO) program as the Mobile Cyber Security Engineer. The Mobile Cyber Security Engineer will be part of the Mobile Integration Solution Team (MIST) supporting the EHRM program with a specific focus on the cybersecurity elements around mobile devices, mobile applications, mobile technologies, and mobile security to integrate COTS mobile solutions to the new Cerner Millennium EHR. Serve as the mobile security liaison between vendors and various government stakeholders.

Able to understand the Joint VA-DoD MedCOI security construct and the implementation of the VA’s MedMOD for medical device security, to enable troubleshooting of implementation, and potential re-engineering of designs and architectures.

A key resource to help identify potential issues / risks with the Authority to Connect / Authority to Operate (ATC/ATO) of commercial mobile devices to the secure joint enclave. Understanding of the DHA PPSM process is preferred.

Able to build and maintain cybersecurity artifacts to support the ATO/ATC process. For example, the Mobile Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for creating or updating:  System Security Plan, Plan of Action and Milestone, Network Topology, PPSM, Hardware/Software List, etc.  Documents will be maintained as Microsoft Office documents and within eMASS.

Analyze security reports related to mobile technologies (apps, devices, etc.), identify gaps, and provide feedback to mature artifacts

Provide technical strategies and guidance for implementation of the Risk Management Framework to support VA ATO/ATC activities with the Department of Defense.

Provide evaluations in the form of technical guidance, white papers, and strategy briefs on Cyber Security Tools, network topologies to senior leadership.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 15+ years of professional work experience
  • Must create strategies and plans for integration of multiple IT systems/subsystems into an operational unit, ensuring full functional and performance capabilities are retained
  • Must be able to coordinate with development and user teams to assess risks, goals and needs and ensure that all are adequately addressed
  • Must be experienced in introducing new hardware or software into a new or existing environment while minimizing disruption and mitigating risks
  • Must be cost conscience as well addressing goals
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or equivalent, or an additional 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Understanding of EHR Implementation and how it relates to all technical aspects through the project Life Cycle
  • EHR deployment experience highly preferred. Understanding of Network security
  • Promote organizational improvement efforts through the development of systems or client enhancements to standard health implementation and/or product development processes, policies, and procedures
  • Able to implement strong program management practices (change requests, issue management, risk/issue mitigation and management and decision tracking) and contributes to standard client implementation methodologies and management best practices
  • Demonstrated experience proactively identifying new problems and preparing solution courses of action by engaging cross-functional (technical, clinical, programmatic) stakeholders
  • Maintains a high-level of confidence and is able to communicate ideas and influence collaborative decisions
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, empower support staff, and require minimal direction in achieving goals
  • Microsoft Visio and Project, Health IT experience
